Rakul Preet Singh recalls getting replaced by Kajal Aggarwal in a Prabhas film after shooting it for 4 days

Actress Rakul Preet Singh – who is known for films such as Gilli, Sarrainodu, Dhruva, Spyder, De De Pyaar De, Doctor G and more, recently reflected on her acting journey and the obstacles she faced during the initial years. The actress began her career with the Kannada film Gilli in 2009 before venturing into Telugu film and then debuting in Bollywood in 2014 with Yaariyan. During a recent chat, Rakul opened up about the struggles she faced and how she was once replaced by Kajal Aggarwal in a Prabhas starrer.

During a recent chat with Filmfare, Rakul Preet Singh got candid about the struggles she faced when she began her acting career. The ‘De De Pyaar De’ actress began by saying, “I was in paradise. I would think it’s okay if I didn’t get a role, something else is there for me. I was not corrupted. And it helped that I wasn’t living in the whole actor/model area in Mumbai. I was living in Kandivali. I was detached from the actor/model circuit. I would diligently go and do my work. There were a lot of rejections.”

Talking about being replaced in a Prabhas starrer by Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh said, “There was a film in Telugu that I shot for four days and I was replaced. It was with Prabhas. It was for the best. Everybody had the best intentions. I was new and in my second year in college. I was studying on the set for my exams. The film was Mr Perfect.”

Rakul: It was a business call

She continued, “So after we finished the first schedule, I went to Delhi and there I got to know that I have been replaced by Kajal Aggarwal. So, Kajal and Prabhas’ other film was released that week while we were shooting and it had become a blockbuster. So, the producers thought to repeat the same cast and it was a business call. That happens many times when a new girl gets replaced.”

She concluded by stating, “I went back to Delhi and they told me that they will let me know about the second schedule. I got to know that I had been replaced when I went back to Delhi. I said, ‘Okay. There is something better for me.'”

On the work front, Rakul Preet Singh was last seen in the pan-India film Indian 2 alongside Kamal Haasan. Her upcoming nexts include Indian 3 and De De Pyaar De 2.
